What Does "End of the World" Language Mean in the Bible?  

Philip Greenslade says it nicely:    
“God’s acts of judgment within history are often described metaphorically in decreation language (e.g. Is.9-10; Jer.4:23-28). ‘End-of-the-world’ language is used to give ultimate significance and theological weight to historical events that might otherwise be regarded as random or accidental.” (Greenslade, 2002, 56)
So, the "end of the world" doesn't necessarily mean the end of the history and the space-time continuum.
