-You'll never get the Bible if you read it only or primarily for what it said to its first readers.
-You'll never get the Bible if you read it only or primarily for what it says to you today.
-You'll only get the Bible if you read it as God's story with humanity and the world in which you have been called to play a part and further that story in your time and place.
